Last Words

Last Words” is a new project by writer Sophia Laurenzi about the men and women executed in the United States. For years, Sophia has written about death, grief, and memory—sometimes through her own lived experience, often through the stories of others. This ongoing series returns to the subject of the death penalty, documenting the lives of people on death row through letters, emails, and conversations exchanged before their executions. Each story is published posthumously, with permission.
